Dr. Mark Holterman’s Impeccable Work

The American Diabetes Association recognizes good work from researchers who bring massive impact in their work and those working on upcoming studies. Dr. Mark Holterman has been among those awarded for their excellent jobs. He received the Innovative Research Award from ADA. In the quest of finding solutions for diabetes, American Diabetes Association has supported almost five thousand research. It does that through dedicated research programming and grant funding. For three years, awards have provided over three hundred thousand dollars funding yearly.


The pediatric program

The University of Illinois, College of Medicine, where Dr. Mark Holterman is a professor of pediatrics and surgery offers Programs of Clinical Excellence. The programs concentrate on providing the students with professional education and giving comprehensive health care when it comes to pediatrics (Twitter). The staff of the Programs of Clinical Excellence has diverse and extensive skill in pediatric medicine and is committed to giving world-class services. The services range from research to patient care to teaching. The programs have also engaged the public in improving healthcare by providing education and prevention methods. Pediatric Diabetes Program, Illinois Kids Engagement System, Sickle Cell Center and Pediatric Transplantation Program are among the initiatives launched by the programs.


About Dr. Holterman

Dr. Mark Holterman is the CEO and Chief Medical Officer at Mariam Global Health and a Pediatric Surgeon at OSF Healthcare apart from being a professor at the University of Illinois. The doctor has over twenty years of experience in pediatric medicine and surgery. Dr. Mark has focused his research on stem cell therapies, regenerative medicine, novel cancer treatment and obesity. Throughout the years, he has won several awards and been a member of many professional organizations.


Dr. Holterman pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Art in Biology from Yale University and then an MD and Ph.D. in Medicine and Immunology at the University of Virginia. He later did his residency at the University of Virginia Health Sciences in general surgery. Dr. Mark Holterman also did a fellowship in pediatric surgery at the Children’s Hospital and Medical Center. He has received high ratings from many of his patients who describe him as a dedicated doctor who put his patients first.
