Carl Daikeler wants everyone to feel as confident about their bodies as he does about his. Daikeler’s career started in production for the NFL’s entertainment division. He moved on to the infomercial industry in the 1990s. Daikeler noticed that a lot of the items in infomercials were for personal fitness. After considering why that might be, he came to a few conclusions. One was that people didn’t want to feel ashamed or embarrassed by showing up at the gym as a new person to fitness. Another was the hassle of going to the gym. He also noticed that the American diet had a lot of nutritional gaps.
BeachBody was developed after Daikeler realized that people would be more likely to exercise if they could do it at home. He created a series of videos to get a person’s body ready for swim trunks or a bikini, so their body would be ready for the beach. The series took off, and it wasn’t long before Daikeler was filming dozens more workouts to add to the collection. He takes center stage in many of the videos. The workouts were made available on DVD in 1998.
By 2015, hundreds of workouts were available. Carl Daikeler and his partners updated the program with BeachBody on Demand. This online service allows a subscriber to access all of the workouts. Some of the most popular workouts in the series include P90X and Insanity. Daikeler and his team also created the OpenFit app. After logging in, users can join a live workout and get social support.
To address those nutritional gaps, Carl Daikeler and his team created Shakeology. It’s a protein powder that a user combines with a plant-based milk or regular dairy milk. The protein powder options are vegan or whey, and they’re available in chocolate, vanilla, strawberry and other flavors.
The Shakeology shakes contain 16 grams of protein and a lot of fiber, which creates a satiated stomach. People can use Shakeology to replace a meal. When combined with Carl Daikeler’s BeachBody workouts, Shakeology’s program helps people lose weight, feel more confident and stay healthy.
